Young, Graeme

    Graeme Young

Graeme Young left his native New Zealand in 1974 and settled in Brisbane, Australia, as an opera and ballet conductor, frequently indulging his passion for arranging and orchestrating. He has been commissioned to write for several new ballets, including "The Lady of the Camellias" (La Traviata) and "The Taming of the Shrew," using many of the keyboard sonatas of Scarlatti. A former Music Advisor for the Queensland Ballet in Brisbane, Graeme traveled with this company as conductor on their 1996 tour of the United States. His recent editions of two of George MacFarren's mid-19th century symphony resulted in a CD recording for the prestigious CPO record company in Germany. Graeme recently prepared a modern edition of one of Siegfried Wagner's 29 operas, "Die heilige Linde," for performance in Cologne.
