Witt, Edward
During his career as a student of Mt. Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania, recognized nationally for it’s superior music education programs, Edward Witt (b. 1991), a pianist, percussionist, and trumpeter, composed several works for several of its musical ensembles. Namely, the award-winning Mt. Lebanon High School Percussion Ensemble.
In his junior and senior years, Edward was a featured soloist and composer, with several arrangements and compositions being premiered by one of the many groups within the percussion program. As a performer, Edward traveled to venues such as the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association Conference in Hershey, and the National Percussion Festival in Indianapolis. In 2010, the group was given the honor of being the only high school ensemble ever to perform at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma.
Edward has studied composition with Subha Das and Nathan Daughtrey and is currently pursuing his B.F.A. in Music Composition from Carnegie Mellon University, where he studies with Nancy Galbraith and Leonardo Balada.
