Whitley, Ran
Ran Whitley is the Chair for the Division of Fine Arts and Professor of Music at Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC where he also holds the Alma Dark Howard Endowed Chair of Church Music. He earned the DMin and MDiv degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as the PhD in music education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Further, he has completed Orff Levels I-III and the Orff Master Studies Program at the University of Memphis. Dr. Whitley has more than thirty years of experience in music education, church music ministry and higher Christian education. His course offerings at Campbell University focus primarily on music education, worship and music ministry.
Dr. Whitley has published numerous Orff Orchestrations and music education books with Macie Publishing Company, and frequently conducts clinics and workshops in music education around the country. He recently served on the Hymn Selection Committee for the new Baptist Hymnal (Lifeway Worship, 2008), and is an orchestrator for the new Celebrating Grace Hymnal (Mercer Press, 2010). Further, he performs extensively in North Carolina as a jazz musician. Dr. Whitley is also an ordained Southern Baptist Minister and serves Coats Baptist Church, Coats, NC as Minister of Music. He is married to Donna and they have five children.
