White, Winton Yuichiro
Winton Yuichiro White is a published composer that combines groove-oriented music along with his classical training to create his art compositions. Winton's versatility ranges from writing for orchestral instruments, to vocal ensembles, and even dance groups or film. He has written for Juilliard-based Afiara String Quartet, San Francisco Choral Artists, the documentary HAFU, and for his fellow musicians with his works performed in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Japan and France.
Composing since the age of 16, he pursued his formal training at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Biola University, California Summer Music and American Conservatoire in Fontainebleau, France. He studied composition under David Conte, Ken Walicki, and David Tcimpidis. During his time in the greater Los Angeles area he was active as a freelance tubist and bass guitarist.
Still active as a performer, Winton is also a freelance countertenor singing with groups across the Bay Area such as Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys, St. Paul’s Episcopal Oakland, International Orange Chorale, SF Renaissance Voices and the San Francisco Choral Artists. His primary voice teachers are Brian Asawa and Raeeka Shehabi-Yaghmai. Winton also worked as a music copyist for William Kraft, Grace Cathedral and other local artists in San Francisco.
