David L. Wells is a life long resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan who has been the middle school band director at Northview Public Schools since 1974. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1974 from Western Michigan University and a Masters in the Art of Teaching with a concentration in music from Calvin College in 1987. Locally, Wells has performed as a trombone soloist, tenor soloist, but most often as a freelance classical and jazz trombonist. He is the leader of the Northview Community Band, and musical director of the River Rogues Jazz Band. An active arranger for area marching bands, he has also been commissioned by area groups such as the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band, The West Michigan Flute Association, and local schools and churches to produce new music.
