Kevin Townsend (1980-2024) was a band director and composer in Hickory, North Carolina. His bands at the middle and high school levels earned Superior and Excellent ratings at concert and jazz band MPA events. Individually, Kevin’s students enjoyed success in form of Superior ratings at Solo & Small Ensemble MPA as well as placement in a number of honors ensembles throughout North Carolina, including the N.C. Northwest District Honors Band, N.C. All State Honors Band, N.C. Western Regional Orchestra, and N.C. All State Honors Orchestra.

Kevin earned his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2004 and his Master of Music Education Degree from Appalachian State University in 2006. He served on the N.C. Northwest District Bandmasters Association Board of Directors as Middle School Auditions Chair and High School Auditions Co-chair. Kevin held memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the North Carolina Bandmasters Association, and the National Band Association.
