    V Torchinsky

    Vladimir Torchinsky was born in Moscow in 1968. At the age of 7 he began playing the violine and by the age 8 he undertook his second instrument: the piano. Between 1983-1987 he studied at the Gnesin Music College where he finished both Violine and Piano. After his military service (1987-1989), between 1989-1990, Mr. Torchinsky held a post in the Moscow State Theatre of Variety Art as a pianist and Musical Arranger. During the time he also played in the Opera – Theatre Orchestra of Moscow.

    Since 1991 he lives in Israel. The years 1992-1994 were spent in the Tel-Aviv Rubin Academy in formal studies of composition. Among his teachers was the Head of Composition Department Prof. I. Sadai and Prof. A. Mayani.

    Since 1993 his pieces are regulary performed and broadcasted in Israel and abroad (Russia, Germany, Hungary).

    His composition style encompasses a wide range of sounds spectrum: he works within realms of New Age, in a minimalistic technique with elements of free jazz and trends of improvisation. His works (more than 50) are written for piano, piano and voice, string quartet, orchestra, choir, chamber groups.
