Alyssa G. Smith holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from The Ohio State University, Master of Music from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Music from DePaul University . She has studied percussion with members of the Chicago Symphony and international performing artists including Michael Burritt, Susan Powell, Ted Atkatz, Jim Ross and Michael Green. Dr. Smith is currently on faculty at the Flint School of Performing Arts in Flint, Michigan where she teaches private lessons to all ages, group beginning classes and the adult World Percussion class. In addition, she coaches the Flint Youth Symphony and Youth Wind Ensemble percussion sections and accompanies the Advanced Modern Dance class. Dr. Smith is a member of the French-American Chamber Orchestra, rotating yearly performances between Michigan and Lyon, France. Smith has aslo performed in several states in the Mid-West as well as in Ireland.
