Roe, Mike
Mike Roe is currently a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where he instructs the Cornhusker Drumline, as well as teaches applied lessons, percussion ensemble, and percussion methods courses. Throughout his career, Mike has performed in a wide variety of musical ensembles and settings, from wind bands, marching bands, orchestral and percussion ensembles to jazz combos, big bands, and various rock/pop groups. In addition to performances throughout the country – including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2016 and the Jazz Education Network conference in 2017 and 2018 – he has also performed abroad in England, France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, including two performances at the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland.
Mike is also an active composer, with pieces ranging from solo percussion, to chamber ensembles, to percussion orchestra. His works have been performed throughout the country, and he continues to seek new and creative compositional outlets.
Mike holds degrees in percussion performance from the University of Arkansas (M.M. And Performance Certificate) and South Dakota State University (B.A.) and is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, National Association for Music Education, and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.
