Ridley, Stephen

Stephen Ridley is a composer and orchestrator based in Los Angeles. His music features niche percussion instruments and electronics, blended with the traditional orchestra. Stephen received his Masters in Music Composition from UCLA, where he was a student of the late, great Jerry Goldsmith.
Shortly after grad school, Stephen was selected to underscore ABC’s Academy Awards Promo campaign, a project which was helmed by director John Singleton. In 2012, Stephen was hired to create a string and percussion score for the indie feature film 'A Perfect Ending', which toured the US film festival circuit. Previously, he composed, orchestrated and conducted a large orchestral score at Capitol Studios for a film parody by Natalie Van Doren. This short comedy ('The Sharktank Redemption') aired on HBO networks, and is part of the special edition DVD release of 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Stephen also served as a pre-production music consultant and supervisor on the feature film 'Stranger Than Fiction' in 2006, and on a similar project still in development at MGM.
Stephen is also very active in the world of concert and academic music. Several of his concert works for percussion are published and distributed by C. Alan Publications. His experimental works 'pitch/pulse' and 'Animism for Prepared Timpani and Playback' have enjoyed many performances, both domestic and international.
