Richardson, Phil
Phil Richardson (b. 1986) is currently completing his coursework at Texas Christian University (TCU) where he is studying both Music Composition and Music Education. His works have received numerous regional performances, with recent highlights at the University of Oklahoma, Texas Christian University, and St Stephen Presbyterian. His work for marimba quartet, Transmigration, won the 2009 Jonathan Durington Award for composition at TCU. Mr. Richardson also received a grant from the TCU Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Initiative for his composition Love Bade Me Welcome, a new work for a cappella choir. As an active percussionist, Mr. Richardson has appeared in various ensembles in the DFW area, including the TCU PASIC Champion Indoor Drumline, Phantom Regiment, the Fort Worth Sinfonietta, as well as the TCU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Orchestra. At TCU, he studied composition under Dr. Blaise Ferrandino, Dr. Till Meyn, and Dr. Martin Blessinger. His percussion instructors include Dr. Brian A. West, Dr. Richard C. Gipson, Paul Rennick, Joey Carter, and Tom McGillen. Mr. Richardson is a member of SCI, PAS, and ASCAP.
