Ptacin, Michael
Michael Ptacin is a percussionist and private lesson teacher living in Dallas, Texas. He has performed as a soloist with the UNCG Symphony Orchestra, Greensboro Concert Band, at Lawrence University and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. As a freelance artist, Michael performs regularly as a drum set player and pit percussionist for musical theater productions. He has also appeared with the North Carolina Brass Band, Gate City Percussion Ensemble, Salisbury Symphony, Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, and world-renowned Dallas Winds.
Michael can be heard on the chamber music album “Praxis” with euphoniumist Brian Meixner, percussionist Nathan Daughtrey, and the Gate City Percussion Ensemble. He is also recording an upcoming-album with the Dallas Winds focusing on the music of John Mackey.
Before moving to Texas, he resided in North Carolina and received his DMA in Percussion Performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a focus on music education.
