Mety, David
David Mety is a graduate of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, where he completed his Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Performance & Music Education (K-12). David has studied percussion with Dan Maslanka and Nick Backos. He has a large interest in promoting the vibraphone as a solo instrument, exploring new music along with showcasing the different colors and timbres the vibraphone can produce (especially with extended techniques). He has performed regularly as a soloist with various wind bands and orchestras, in recital, and as a member of several pit orchestras. As a composer and arranger, his goal is to help increase the amount of repertoire available for developing middle and high school soloists and chamber ensembles.
David now teaches at Adams Middle School in Westland, Michigan where he serves as the Director of the Band and Orchestra programs. Previously, he taught at L’Anse Creuse High School-North in Macomb, Michigan where he continues to serve as the Percussion Caption Head of the Marching Crusaders, Director of the Percussion Ensemble, and private lesson instructor.
