Meiman, Ian

    Ian Meiman

    Ian J. Meiman is a percussionist, educator, and composer currently residing in Kentucky. Ian holds a Master of Music from The University of British Columbia and a Bachelors of Music from Eastern Kentucky University. Currently he is completing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at The University of Southern Mississippi.

    As an educator, Ian’s career has spanned over ten years with various institutions throughout the United States. At Southern Miss he was the Founder and Director of the USM Percussion Chamber Group and Co-director of the ‘Fresh Pans of Bel Air’ steel orchestra. Prior to Southern Miss Ian taught music classes as a Lecturer at Eastern Kentucky University. He has served as a front ensemble instructor for the Barren County High School Marching Trojans and the Jones County Junior College Maroon Typhoon.

    Ian has performed and studied with some of the world’s most distinguished percussionists, including Dr. John Wooton (Southern Miss), Dr. Jason Koontz (Eastern Kentucky University), Vern Griffiths (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra), Aaron McDonald (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra), John Andrew Porter (U.S. Hellcats Drum and Bugle Corps), and Tony Micelli (Jazz Vibraphonist). Ian has performed and studied across the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Europe.
