Mazan, Brent
Brent Mazan began his love of percussion at the age of five when he received a set of Boomwhackers. By age 13 he was regularly performing in a variety of ensembles at school, church, and in the Kansas City Youth Percussion Ensemble. During his studies at the University of Oklahoma Brent acquired a passion for steel pan and was the 2017 recipient of the Daniel C.R. Mendez Steel Band Award. Throughout his music career Brent has performed in a wide variety of ensembles and venues across the United States including percussion ensembles, jazz bands, pit orchestras, wind bands, steel drum bands, symphony orchestras, and chamber groups. As an educator Brent has directed wind bands, percussion ensembles, and steel drum bands and is in demand as a regular clinician and private lesson instructor. Currently, Brent is the director of steel pans at Triad Total Percussion, Inc. in Greensboro, North Carolina.
