    Vincent Kantorski

    Dr. Vincent J. Kantorski is an Emeritus Professor of Music Education from the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) where he taught primarily graduate music education students for 31 years. Prior to that he taught music students at the middle school, high school, and community college levels in Chicago and Miami. He received a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University, a master’s degree in music performance in double bass from the University of Miami, and a Ph.D. in music education from Florida State University. Dr. Kantorski was a member of the double bass section of several symphony and opera orchestras including the Chicago Civic Orchestra when it was rehearsed by Chicago Symphony Orchestra guest conductors Aaron Copland, Daniel Barenboim, and Seiji Ozawa, as well as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s music director Sir Georg Solti. He was a member of the Fort Lauderdale Symphony, Palm Beach Symphony, and Greater Miami Opera Orchestra in productions with leading roles sung by Luciano Pavarotti and many other international opera singers. Dr. Kantorski was a member of the string section for several songs on the BeeGees’ Spirits Having Flown album. He has presented original research numerous times at state, regional, and national conventions of the Music Educators National Conference, at the Hawaii International Conference on Arts & Humanities, and at the International Society for Music Education World Conferences in Helsinki and Amsterdam. His numerous scholarly articles have been published in leading music education journals including the Journal of Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Psychomusicology, Contributions to Music Education, and Dialogue in Instrumental Music Education. In 1997, Harmonie Park Press published his reference book titled A Bibliography of Source Readings in Music Education (Detroit Studies in Music Bibliography, No. 78). Dr. Kantorski lives in Margate, Florida.
