Edwards, Keith Otis
Keith Otis Edwards was born in Detroit, Michigan, where he has spent most of his life. He learned to write music the same way J. S. Bach did -- by studying the scores of the masters, but also he attended Detroit's Cass Technical High School, where all music students were subject to a strict regimen of music theory and counterpoint instruction from choir director Italo Taranta, who had studied with the famous Nadia Boulanger in Paris.
In his youth, Keith became fascinated with the rousing music of the circus, and he once met the most famous of all circus band directors, Merle Evans. His goal is to write music which will excite audiences and get their blood flowing. He tries to follow the rule Paul Hindemith set for his students, that if you write a piece, you must be able to play every part in it.
Keith's scores have sold in Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Hungary, England, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Malaysia and throughout the USA.
