Dooley, Michael
Michael Dooley is an accomplished performer, educator, and composer, residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, he graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with two degrees: a B.S. in Music Education and a B.A. in Music Theory & Composition. He then came down south to the Lone Star State to attend Texas Christian University, earning a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance.
Michael has plenty of teaching chops; he’s taught scores of students from Pennsylvania to Texas including numerous marching bands, Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, Lone Star Youth Winds, and too many private lesson students to count.
Michael is a greatly versatile player, performing in as many different genres and styles as he can. He has toured internationally with both the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps and the American Wind Symphony, he has displayed his solo abilities by winning multiple concerto competitions, and he has taken the spotlight on stage in theatrical productions like Nebulas: The Show. Michael remains very active, performing with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, the Texas Star Brass Band, the Paradox Percussion Project, the LSWO Percussion Ensemble and freelance gigs in the DFW area. His playing can be heard on recordings with the Keystone Wind Ensemble and the TCU Percussion Orchestra.
Michael’s words about percussion can be found all over the place on Lone Star Percussion’s website where he works on web content, marketing, e-commerce, and lots of other projects behind-the-scenes.
