Cope, John David
John David Cope is a composer, arranger, percussionist, educator, and entrepreneur from North Richland Hills, Texas. He is currently working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the music composition department at the Texas Christian University. In addition to working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Mr. Cope is also working on his Doctorate in Music Composition. He received his Master’s in Music Composition from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Bachelor’s in Music Composition, with an emphasis in percussion, as well as a business degree from Texas Christian University.
Mr. Cope’s music has been performed and commissioned by many ensembles such as the Trace Chamber Society, the TCU Orchestra, TCU Percussion Orchestra, UNL Percussion Ensemble, a variety of small chamber groups, and many soloists in the DFW and Lincoln areas. In 2021, Mr. Cope received commissions for a Pierrot Ensemble from the Trace Chamber Society, a Tenor saxophone with Latin Percussion Solo from Duo based in Fort Worth, and a Wind Ensemble from conductor Scott Walker. Mr. Cope's musical career has just begun, but he will continue to seek out opportunities to compose all over the country and hopefully the world.
