Best known in secular brass band circles as the composer of the march, Goldcrest, James Anderson was a highly respected Salvation Army Officer, conductor and composer.

He retired in May 2010 after six years as the Divisional Music Director for the National Capital and Virginia Division and Bandmaster of the National Capital Band.
